Methyl acetate is a clear, flammable liquid with a pleasant smell that has many uses, including:

- Solvent: Used in adhesives, sealants, nail polish, paint strippers, and more 
- Manufacturing: Used in the production of artificial leather, photographic film base, and cellulose acetate 
- Perfumery: Used in the perfume industry

- Ink: Used in flexographic, gravure, marking, writing, and ink jet printer inks 

Methyl acetate is a volatile solvent that evaporates faster than MEK and ethyl acetate. It can be used as a replacement for these solvents in applications where VOC reduction is required.
